Aaron, I really loved this piece. Thank you. I have personally experienced this reality in my own healing process, and as a counselor I loved seeing His presence and the reality of His resurrection bring healing to the hearts and minds of those I assist. I now offer Immanuel prayer and teach principles from the Life Model: Living From The Heart Jesus Gave You as I work with coaching clients who desire to heal. Truly His Presence heals and you said this beautifully. Thanks for an excellent post. So grateful for the resurrected Savior who brings light and truth and healing to our broken places in need of healing.
Hi Susan, thanks so much for reading and for sharing from your own life and work. I didn’t mention it, but I definitely had The Immanuel Approach / Life Model in mind as I wrote that. I’m not trained in that specific approach, but was recently talking with a friend who is, and it helpfully converged with similar trauma-healing modalities/influences of mine (Bonnie Badenoch esp.) and with my study of John’s Gospel. I’m grateful to hear how this resonated with you, it also affirms my interest in learning more about the Life Model.
I think you'd enjoy the Life Model, but also Immanuel Journaling/Immanuel Approach. It would be fun to exchange ideas on things like this. I am writing a book about how God transforms us, bringing healing and growth, even through turbulent times in life. I think we have some similar interests. Where are you located?
“resurrection is the enemy of textual literalism” 🤯
Just put Hays on my to-read list. And this is just such a helpful post overall .. will be thinking more about how to remember and re-narrate my own story.

I’m in Kansas, you? Always happy to meet another on the road of transformation, healing and growth and helping others along that same road.
We live in Oregon. Yes, I feel that way as well.

Thanks Joy. That is such a powerful idea from Hays, I’m still chewing on it myself.
