For the sake of the honor of Christ, the mission of the gospel, and protecting the sheep, I hope we continue clarifying how to properly name healthy and sinful shepherding. That is the mark of a theologian: calling a thing what it is.
Not sure why I didn't read this in November of 2022 (although I can guess it was that pesky dissertation hanging over my head at the time). But EXCELLENT work as always, Aaron. And, is it any wonder why many in our "camp" have difficulty integrating the left and right brain in a complementary way when our current definitions of complementarianism also suffer from heretical, hierarchical ordering? GAH.
Thanks Ann Maree, and excellent point. The insistence on gendered and clerical hierarchy corresponds to the left brain’s insistence on being the master over and excluding the right brain, leaving us, in further imagery from Iain McGilchrist, to an illusive hall of mirrors with seemingly no way out of hierarchical ordering.
