Just read this and your first post in the series, Aaron. Beautiful — so many riches you’re digging out of John’s gospel! It’s all personally applicable for me, too, of course. Looking forward to part 3.
Ah, so much more could be said! I frequently use Tim Mackie’s line that “the Gospel of John is bottomless,” and it’s an image that especially applies to Jesus’ bottomless tears in Bethany.
This really spoke to me! Thank you Aaron. Sometimes the pain can be overwhelming, but I love how you wrote about Mary's tears bringing her to Jesus. That's what I'm finding. Looking forward to reading more of your work on this as I heal in my journey from spiritual abuse.
Thanks for sharing about your experience, Bethany. The pain really can be overwhelming. As someone on that same healing journey, I’m grateful to hear this spoke to you.

Thanks Joy. I particularly enjoyed writing part 3. It’s mind-blowing stuff, really. Here’s a preview!

What a perfect piece to read after considering the tears of Mary of Bethany in John 11 this week.
